TANZPOL
This year, tanzpol stages a festival of contemporary dance and performance by focusing on positions of Afghan and Iranian artists, who live in different contexts in Europe. tanzpol places a curatorial emphasis on the conditions and situations of being in exile and explores the question: “How do experiences of exile continue within an international artistic field?”
The festival program confronts the multi-layered and complex nature of the term “exile” on an artistic level and in discussion formats. It questions mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion within European art scenes and does not shy away from a clash of diverse, even contradictory, perspectives. The performances give impulses to think about possible alliances and the shaping of a togetherness that does not have to be conflict-free and harmonious, but can be humorous, contradictory and arouse curiosity. Through dancing, laughing, singing, feeling, speaking, celebrating, discussing and mourning together in interactive formats, gatherings, interdisciplinary concert-dance performances, three workshops and two panel discussions, tanzpol invites you to enter into dialog, listen and get to know each other.
