Villa Elisabeth | St. Elisabeth
Villa Elisabeth
Villa Elisabeth, a historical protected building, impresses with its spaciousness. Through a foyer and via a wide staircase with wrought-iron banisters, one reaches the gallery hall. Stuccoed columns and arches support the gallery, the characteristic parquet flooring, half-height wooden panels and heavy double-leaf wooden doors emphasize the historic charm of this carefully renovated ballroom.
As an independent venue, Villa Elisabeth offers space for wide-ranging, curated cultural programming; the focus is placed on contemporary and early music, experimental and cross-disciplinary formats, as well as classical chamber music series, vocal music in smaller ensembles, modern music and dance theater. It also includes experimental performances and young artists' projects.
St. Elisabeth-Church
The St. Elisabeth Church is a place where history is palpable. Its large hall provides an open space for artists and artistic uses of various kinds, right in the city center. It is a place of artistic exploration, of improvisation, concentration and of dialogue between Culture and the Church. Our focus lies primarily in Early Music and Contemporary Classical Music, as well as in contemporary musical, spoken or dance theater, and art, especially in regards to experimental as well as interdisciplinary and multimedia projects. The Church’s park grounds, also a historical monument and a verdant gem in Berlin-Mitte, offer the visitor a place for rest and reflection.
